MassKara Festival: Street Dance Competition

The Street Dance competition is one of the most anticipated events of the whole festival. A theme is set and the dancers are to convey a story in their dances. The competition is separated in several divisions; Barangay, elementary school and high school. The dances are performed on the street during the parade, as well as in the town court/ hall. The groups are allowed props and all have very colourful and extravagant costumes. A lot of the dance moves require jumping and bowing so their headpieces are fitted with handles to prevent the pieces and masks from falling.

The winners of each division is presented with a trophy and cash prizes.

Take a look at some past dance competitions and see why thousands of people fight to see the huge productions that are the dances. Large groups with flamboyant costumes performing truly is a sight to see.
